Ed Flaherty Field Husky Baseball

Named after legendary coach Ed Flaherty in 2017, Ed Flaherty Field hosts the University of Southern Maine Huskies’ baseball program.

In the last 32 years under Flaherty’s leadership, the field has been home to five Little East Conference championship teams, eight NCAA World Series qualifying teams, and two NCAA Division III National Championship teams.

Head Coach Ed Flaherty has over 1000 wins in his University of Southern Maine coaching career.

The Huskies were NCAA Division III Champions in 1991 and 1997.

The team has also produced numerous (41) All-Americans and two National Players of the Year, Sam Dexter (USM ‘16) in 2015 and Tucker White (USM ‘13) in 2013.

Five former members of the University of Southern Maine baseball program were named to the D3baseball.com All-Decade Team for the 2010's.

Named to the All-Decade first team were shortstop Sam Dexter (2013-16) and relief pitcher Andrew Richards (2013-2015). Outfielder Forrest Chadwick (2011-2014) was picked for the second team, and outfielder Tucker White (2010-2013) and infielder-relief pitcher Jake Dexter (2016-2019) were named to the third team.

Coach Flaherty has been named Little East Coach of the year eight times since 1997 and in 2019, Ed Flaherty Field hosted the 2019 Little East Conference and NCAA Regional Tournaments.
El Flaherty Field was most recently updated during the Hannaford Field renovations of 2018. During this update, Ed Flaherty field received state of the art lighting in the outfield and new netting to keep fans safe from foul balls.
