Pat Deacon Stadium

Physical Address:
555 W 4th Street
Lexington, KY 40508

Opened for usage in early 2014, the state-of-the-art Pat Deacon Stadium complex houses Transylvania’s field hockey, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, and track and field teams. Pat Deacon Stadium features an 860-seat grandstand, an eight-lane track, and a fully-lighted artificial turf field that has been in use since October 2013.

Named for two legends who were integral to the evolution of Transylvania Athletics, Harry Stephenson Field at Pat Deacon Stadium serves as the home canvas for seven different Transylvania athletic programs and as a multi-use surface for a collection of teams.

In addition to the stadium facility, the complex houses an 18,000-square foot field house. The field house provides lockers and conference rooms, coaches’ offices, a sports medicine facility, concessions stand, ticket booths, and public restrooms.

At the top of the grandstand sits a full-service press box with an outdoor filming balcony above the indoor booth which comfortably seats 14 game workers per event.

Still in its first decade of existence, Pat Deacon Stadium has been witness to many big events. The Transylvania men’s lacrosse team has hosted three consecutive Ohio River Lacrosse Conference Tournament championships, highlighted by the 2017 championship in which the Pioneers clinched their third straight conference title to advance to their first NCAA Tournament berth in program history.

The Transylvania men’s soccer team won its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship at Pat Deacon Stadium in the fall of 2017 to punch its first ticket to the NCAA Tournament since the facility opened.

In addition to Pioneer athletic endeavors, the facility has hosted a plethora of events and sports teams of all ages. With its many amenities and versatile playing surface, Pat Deacon Stadium stands out as one of the premier sports venues in all of Central Kentucky.

In February 2017, Harry Stephenson Field served as a neutral site for an NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse match between Mercer University and University of Detroit Mercy, the first time a Division I men’s lacrosse game had ever been played in Lexington.

Transylvania University broke ground on the site where Pat Deacon Stadium now stands on Saturday, March 2, 2013. The $10 million facility was officially dedicated on April 26, 2014 with the Transylvania women’s lacrosse team playing host to a 23-0 win against Defiance College.
