Siena College's Turf Field has been named Hickey Field in honor of Ambassador Douglas T. Hickey '77, H '16. The facility has served as the home to Siena's men's and women's lacrosse, men's soccer, and numerous intramural programs for the past dozen years.
A 1977 graduate with his B.S. in economics, Hickey was presented the honorary degree Doctor of Humanities at Siena College's 76th Commencement in 2016. He served on Siena College's Board of Trustees from 2001-10, and was awarded the prestigious Professor Joseph A. Buff Award for outstanding career achievement in 2007. A member of Siena's Ring of Honor, which recognizes the College's transformational donors, he became one of the principal donors to the College's Values and Visions Capital Campaign in 2000 by creating the Douglas T. Hickey Chair in Business, the College's first and only academic chair in its School of Business. His philanthropy to Siena includes making the lead gift to the Douglas T. Hickey Technology Center, home of the Will Raub '85 Trading Room.
Siena College broke ground on Hickey Field in the summer of 2006 and the facility was first open for use by the Siena community in December 2006. The $2.9 million facility was financed through the College and the generosity of individual donors. Clough Harbour & Associates served as the design firm, and Clark Companies handled the construction. On May 6, 2007 Siena College President Fr. Kevin Mackin officially blessed the turf field prior to the intramural flag football championship game.
Hickey Field serves as the home for four of the college's varsity sports - Men's Lacrosse, Women's Lacrosse, and Men's Soccer - which first began varsity competition using the field in the spring of 2007. Additionally, the facility serves as the home to a number of the college's intramural teams. The facility includes seating for 1,000, as well as a press box, scoreboard and terrace area. The artificial surface is FieldTurf's monofilament product, which is the latest generation of turf surfaces.
In just a short time, Hickey Field has already served as the host for both 2008 MAAC Men's Lacrosse and Women's Soccer Championships.
The Men's Lacrosse team christened the new field with a 15-2 victory over Merrimack on March 10, 2007 in the first varsity sporting event hosted by the facility. The Saints have enjoyed great success at their new home, posting an impressive 45-20 (.692) record which has helped propel the program to its first three MAAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009, 2011 and 2014.
Women's Lacrosse has also enjoyed their new confines, posting improved records at home the past few seasons. The men's soccer program was the most recent of the four varsity sports to make the full-time move to the turf for the start of their 2009 fall season.

From the North - Take Exit 5 (NY 155) off the Northway (I-87). Left on NY 155 to US 9. Right on US 9 for two miles. Turn east off of US 9 onto Spring Street Road. Take a left at the fourth driveway on to Turchi Road. The turf field is accessible through the lower parking lot immediately to the right.
From the South - Take Exit 23 (I-787) off the New York Thruway. Follow I-787 to I-90 West. Take Exit 6 (US 9 North to Loudonville, first exit off I-90). Follow US 9 north approximately two miles. Turn east off of US 9 onto Spring Street Road. Take a left at the fourth driveway on to Turchi Road. The turf field is accessible through the lower parking lot immediately to the right.
From the East off the Massachusetts Turnpike - Take the New York Thruway to Exit B-1 (I-90 West). Follow I-90 to Exit 6 (US 9 North to Loudonville). Follow US 9 north approximately two miles. Turn east off of US 9 onto Spring Street Road. Take a left at the fourth driveway on to Turchi Road. The turf field is accessible through the lower parking lot immediately to the right.
From the West - Take Exit 24 (Northway I-87) off the New York Thruway. Follow I-87 North to Exit 5 (NY 155). Left on US 155 to US 9. Right on US 9 for two miles.
