North Dakota State University women’s soccer began a new era in 2013 with the relocation of all home matches to Dacotah Field. NDSU's former football stadium was upgraded with a new soccer scoreboard, refurbished stadium bench seating, a new sound system and improved overhead lighting.

Initially re-surfaced in 2009 for training purposes, the facility received another upgrade in 2017 with installation of new FieldTurf. A new LED lighting system was installed in 2022 and a new press box and storage building were built in 2023.

Dacotah Field was constructed in 1938 in the middle of campus near Churchill Hall and Ceres Hall. It was later relocated to its current position on the north end of campus in the mid-1950s to make way for construction of the Memorial Union.

The stadium was the home of eight national championship football teams from 1965 to 1990 before NDSU football moved into the Fargodome in 1993.

NDSU women's soccer played its first two seasons at the former Cardinal Muench Seminary in north Fargo before opening the on-campus Ellig Sports Complex in 1997.
