Don Shula Stadium

Don Shula Stadium at Wasmer Field
has a rich history. Dedicated on October 5, 1968, Wasmer Field was the first on-campus home of the JCU Athletics. Nearly 35 years later, on September 27, 2003, Don Shula Stadium was dedicated. The state-of-the-art facility bears the name of the late Don Shula '51, a former JCU football star and the winningest NFL coach of all-time.

The 5,416-seat stadium hosts beautiful locker rooms, coaches offices, a weight room, training room, as well as equipment and storage areas. On gameday, fans can enjoy food and drink from its concession stand or check out the Shula Memorabilia Room, which holds artifacts from the lengthy, successful history of JCU Athletcs. The facility features a press box that can accommodate a large number of media members. Two coaches booths and a filming bay are on the second level of the press box.

In the summer of 2019, the turf was replaced and updated to match JCU's new athletic branding.

In addition, access to the home side dugout of Schweickert Field - the baseball facility - is also available. Shula Stadium continues to be utilized by a number of varsity and club teams, in addition to the intramural and recreational programs.

Since its birth in 1968, Wasmer Field has hosted thousands of games and multitudes of Blue Streaks. Many OAC Tournament and NCAA Tournament games have been held on its field, with JCU teams winning plenty of championships here over the years, most recently 2019 OAC Championships captured by the Men's Soccer and Men's Lacrosse teams.

Great careers have began on its field, propelling people such as star NFL linebacker London Fletcher '98, Akron Head Football Coach Tom Arth '03, Los Angeles Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco ’95, and many others to success.
