Gary Wright Field at Fishman Park

Gary Wright Field at Fishman Park serves as the new home for the Centre Baseball team, and is arguably one of the best Division III facilities in the nation. The $5+ million facility was opened for play on March 13, 2022 where the Colonels defeated Hendrix College 5-4 on a walk-off single by Jordan Gunter ’22.

The park was moved to the southern edge of Centre’s campus where players and spectators alike can enjoy a space that is specifically designed for a first-rate ballpark atmosphere. The playing field is all turf, including the mound and bullpens, which enhances the training and playing environment for Centre players. Gary Wright Field also features new dugouts, a new ADA compliant press-box, TrackMan technology, LED lights, and a new scoreboard and video board. The field sits below ground level and is surrounded by new seating and other great sightlines to watch the game.

Adjacent to the field is a new player facility that includes a state-of-the-art locker room, player lounge, classroom, laundry room, and coach’s office/locker room. Having a year around home for the baseball team provides autonomy for training and team activities. The player lounge and classroom also facilitate space for players to do homework or the team to meet off the field.

Lastly, the Fishman Hitting Center is located right outside the main entrance to the player facility. This space provides another area for training that is especially valuable during inclement weather. The Indoor facility features two cages that can be used for batting practice or bullpens. With the investment in Rapsodo technology, the team is able to create a more competitive training environment while being indoors.

The complex is named after Mark Fishman and Gary Wright ’64.

Mark’s son Cameron is a 2012 graduate of Centre where he played catcher and was named to the 2012 All-SCAC First-Team after his senior year. Mark is a partner with Actuaries Unlimited in Encino, Calif. and Cameron currently resides in Los Angeles. The team graciously welcomed Mark and Cameron back to Centre to throw the inaugural first pitch (father to son) at the new field on March 13, 2022.

Gary Wright is a 1964 graduate of Centre where he played both baseball and basketball. Wright was inducted into the Centre Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014. Gary has been a longtime supporter of Centre Baseball and has helped fund the upgrades at the old baseball complex as well as his generous contribution for the new Gary Wright Field.

Gary Wright Field is located at 695 Roy Arnold Blvd, Danville, Ky., on the south side of campus.
