Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex

GET DIRECTIONS

Year Completed: 1971, renovated from 2014 through 2016
Originally opened in 1971, Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex was completely rebuilt prior to the 2016 season.

In its current configuration, Ball Diamond has a capacity of 1,500 fans and plays to the dimensions of 325 feet down the right and left field lines, 365 in the gaps and 400 feet to center field

In the first round of improvements following the 2014 season, a FieldTurf surface was installed in both the infield and outfield to allow the Cardinals to compete in nearly any weather condition.

The dugouts were also completely renovated, while a brick backstop and new safety netting was added.

In the summer and fall of 2015, the grandstands were completely rebuilt and included chairback seating, a new press box and a new concession stand.

In addition, improvements were made to the outfield fencing, batter's eye, public address system and scoreboard. New graphics were also completed on the outfield fences just prior to the 2016 home opener. The field was dedicated on April 23, 2016, and the baseball/softball complex was renamed First Merchants Ballpark Complex and the field was named Ball Diamond.

Ball State’s baseball locker room has also been recently upgraded and features individual wood lockers for each player plus a team area with large screen television and state of the art visual training apparatus.
